Mr. islands Makes the Fashion Cut

Cummerbund and Fanny Pack: So what’s your name?
Mr i- Mr. islands, for reals, that’s what people call me. Make sure it’s with a lower case “i”.

C & FP- How do you like working at the The Bobbin?
Mr. i - Awesome. (chuckles) It’s great. It’s excellent. The best job I ever had. I also work at Junktiques.

C & FP- Those are such prime Burlington jobs.
Mr. i - Really? Do you want one? You can get a job here its not hard, because this is a community job. What we’re trying to start here is like, a community thing where you can come and volunteer 3 hour shifts. The perks are that you can: a) put your own fashion design clothes here for sale, b) consign your old clothes that you have and c) just hang around here and work, sew, or do whatever kind of project you want. It’s really important that people come to help this place out.

C & FP - So what do you do for this?
Mr. i - Well, I’m a musician, but I’m interested in becoming a fashion designer. Miss Marbles and I, she’s in my band, we really like the show Project Runway a whole lot. We think that it’s funny. But, I want to invent the 5-collared shirt where each collar gets longer than the last one.

C & FP- So you’re in a band currently? What’s the name?
Mr. i -Nose Bleed Island and the Blood Island Society. We got Dracula in the band, a robot that I built, an 11-year-old kid that doesn’t know how to play music, and my girlfriend who doesn’t know how to play music. I’d describe it as weird, awesome, experimental pop. . . We’re unbelievable. I mean, I’m pretty cocky about it because we just recorded an album.

C & FP- So then, what’s your idea of “cool” style? Or, what’s your personal style?
Mr. i -I think that every one has their own personal style… I got into weird Cosby-esque sweaters with big colors- bizarre, big, loud colors put together.

C & FP- Do you any other commentary to share with me?

Mr. i -Well, I think that girls wear tight pants a lot, and I like it.
