Top 5 Artificial Facial Expressions Used in Ubiquitous Facebook Pictures:
Published March 27, 2007
1. Blue Steel from Zoolander: pursed lips and sucked-in cheeks.
It never fails in making you look like a cocky bastard or silly
supermodel.
2. Humphrey Bogart alla Casablanca: cigarette defying gravity
by clinging to bottom lip. After photo was taken smoke stings
your eyes and you hope no one notices.
3. Plastic Smile (Old Tactic): grinning ear to ear to show off
pearly white teeth. If used, is probably the only facial expression
you have in photos.
4. Quizzical “Thinker” Pose: Photographer thinks you are jok-
ing; you think you look deep. Sometimes accompanied by eye-
brow raise.
5. Genuine Laughter: knee-slapping and guffawing. These are
rare pictures and they occur when you don’t realize the camera
is pointed at you. When viewed again you ask, “Was I ever that
happy?”
