“I’ve apologized enough.”
-Nationally syndicated radio host (and total asshole), Don Imus, who made racist and sexist comments about the Rutgers’ women’s basketball team on his morning show, causing a media uproar. This has not been the first time Imus has made derogatory comments, and his show has since been dropped by CBS Radio.
“I don’t believe that!”
-Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy, accusing the Bush administration of lying about accidentally deleting emails that may implicate key administration officials in the U.S. attorney firing scandal. His comments were shouted on the Senate floor Thursday. Go Vermont!
“A bird hit the right engine of the plane upon landing.”
-Megan McGinn, spokesperson for Vice President Cheney, on Air Force Two’s collision with a bird when landing in Chicago. The bird turned out to be the same bird that the Vice President missed when he accidentally shot his friend in the face a year ago! (Not really…)
“Insecure dictators see ghosts everywhere.”
-Asma Jahangir, Pakistani human rights activist, on this week’s trial of Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhr. Chaudhr was suspended by strong-handed chief executive General Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan, for daring to act independently. Good to know that one of our strongest allies has such a vibrant democratic tradition.
“Let’s All Hate Toronto.”
-Title of a recently produced Canadian documentary chronicling the rest of Canada’s hatred of its biggest city. Apparently, trash talking Toronto is akin to a national pastime in Canada. Who knew?
