This section deconstructs the styles of today. The tripartite nature of the section demonstrates the intersection of image-word-mathematics.
7:30 am: Wakes up, throws on organic hemp tee from floor. Makes oatmeal, bikes to his first class, NR 280: Stream Ecology.
8:45 am: Indulges in some fair-trade coffee from the cyber cafe, obviously uses his recyclable mug. Wonders why they even allow paper cups to be used, much less the cardboard ‘sleeves’.
9:54 am: Runs into
Rubenstein regular, begins discussion on how to remove all disposable eating/drinking utensils from campus; however, they realise that this will never happen, so they instead talk about some awesome kayaking they did this summer in
Costa Rica.
10:30 am: Continues research on how to reduce one’s
carbon footprint; realises he’ll have to either bike or hitchhike to Latin America this summer: if he flies, he’ll emit 4,592 kg of
CO2.
2:10 pm: Finishes class, heads to internship at Seventh Generation.
5:00 pm: Stops at farmer’s market to buy local.
5:15 pm: Stops at Vermont Pub & Brewery, picks up a few growlers (organic hops used).

6:34 pm: Bikes to North Beach to enjoy one last indian summer sunset. Disgusted by all the cigarette butts & cans, spends a few minutes putting them in the trash & recycling bin. Shocked to discover that in fact, there are no recyling bins. Decides to petition at City Hall to place recycling bins at public parks.
8:26 pm: Draws up petition and continues to brainstorm ways to reduce his carbon footprint. Can only come up with never travelling off the continent and washing his clothes once a year. Decides just to change all his bulbs to fluorescent ones and to make sure his cell phone charger isn’t plugged in when he’s not using it.
11:44 pm: Exhausted from biking all over Burlington. Plans a bike/hike at Niquette Bay to enjoy foliage and also take samples for his Stream Ecology class.
