This section deconstructs the styles of today. The tripartite nature of the section demonstrates the intersection of image-word-mathematics.

A Day in the Life of Amanda Louise Viking

11:00 am: gets out of first class. considers going to second class at 11:15 on way to get coffee at cyber cafe, but gets caught up in conversation with an old friend; decides to grab a chair and do some work instead.

12:30 pm: been doing work for an hour or so, decides to get lunch. davis center is too far away; debates whether to get yogurt/granola cup or salad with chicken from cafe cooler. decides to get salad: it’s more of a meal; who knows how long she’ll be there.

1:20 pm: two hours since fresh air. leaves first floor to bum cigarette(s) and enjoy the construction. runs into another library regular. they decide to get a big table and do work together.

Equation

Library Lounger2:00 pm: more coffee is needed. only needs one more stamp and she’ll get a free one. notices a long line in cyber cafe so she decides instead to take a break from her grueling morning of doing work, grabs the NY Times, and sits in comfy chairs.

2:24 pm: checks out the library situation, realizes there’s no more paper in the printers. kindly notifies reserve desk and promptly becomes a hero to freshmen who print out papers 10 minutes before they’re due.

3:00 pm: blood sugar is dropping; time for more coffee and a cookie.

3:35 pm: recognizes lull in classes & students coming in and out of library. takes nap in armchair and is only woken up by the six o’clock rush of students printing for their once a week class.

6:10 pm: goes outside, bums another cigarette. thinks contently about productive day in library.

6:14 pm
: realizes cyber cafe closes in fifteen minutes. Grabs one last (but free!) cup of coffee and another cookie.
