Year of the Boar
Published October 16, 2007
2007 is the Year of the Pig. And not just any pig, the fire pig!
If that’s not an ancient Chinese way of saying Year of the Barbecue, I don’t know what is.
Famous fire pigs include Tennessee Williams, Julie Andrews, David Bowie, and other folks whom I don’t care about.
Really, with a name like Year of the Fire Pig you’d think 2007 would involve a lot fewer 60th birthdays for artistic folk and a lot more destruction of downtown Tokyo, hog style!
As it is, all we have to celebrate for newborns this year are things like hugs and progressive personalities. That may mean that in twenty years or so it’ll be the age of the space hippie, but what’s the point of that if Tokyo is still in one piece?
