The Night Before Midterms

‘Twas the night before midterms and all through the dorms

Students were hunched over WebCT in scorn

Wikipedia was logged onto and scanned with care

In search of the infinite wisdom laying there

The slackers were nestled all snug in their beds

With dreams of sweet polynomials in their heads.

And I with my notes and my roommate with her tea

Decided to finally buckle down and study

When a noise from outside gave off such a clatter

I rose from my desk to see what was the matter

And what should my curious eyes behold

A sight of amazement, the participants bold

A group of first years so lively and quick

Their naked bodies not wearing a stitch!

Huddled and yelling, boisterous and bright

Pale skin gleaming brightly in the moonlight

Upon further questioning it so appeared

They were committing a crime very much feared

It seems they sadly were misinformed

That tonight was the night to disrobe in their dorms

The naked bike ride is a UVM tradition

When students are invited to express exhibition

But these poor freshmen surely went awry

They confused the dates, and I’m not sure why.

One thing is for sure, they won’t forget again

Midterms and Finals are two different things.

I called down to them, as they cowered through the night

Merry Midterms to all! You’re all prepared, right?
