About

Our generation stands at the crossroads. To the right is fascism. To the left is nihilism. We choose neither. We are idealists devoted to rationalism. We employ satire, visual humor, and cutural criticism.

We are The Water Tower.

Letter From the Founders:

This paper was born over roasted coffee beans and lingering hangovers. It was immaculately conceived before that, but it was at this point that pens met paper and ideas became plans of action.

Above the din of thirty-somethings, we both heard the need for an alternative, student-run newspaper that was funny, concise and critical. We need a new, bold voice to address the problems of our generation, inherited and inherent, we both said.

Images of Marat quilling pamphlets for the French Revolution and UVM students drafting the Disorientation Guide filled our respective heads. This is a paper for the students and by the students.

The times have changed and one day we will have to answer for it. Therefore, we bring you the Water Tower, an independent news source that specializes in social commentary, humor and personal revelations of the universal.

We hope you enjoy our first issue,
